Eloping in Colorado

It's stress free, less expensive, intimate, beautiful, and you're already on your honey moon!  There's lots of great reasons to elope and get married in the grand Colorado Rocky Mountains.  With our talented photographers and videographers we can even capture the experience so your friends and family can still share in your ceremony.  If eloping is something you and your loved one is considering, there are a few things to keep in mind.

The first is location!  The Colorado Rockies are expansive and there are lots of great places to be married.  However the land is divided into many different classifications each with it's own set of rules and regulations.  Most will require some type of permit to get married as well as a permit to film.  The total cost depends on the location and will be less than the cost of using a venue's ceremony site, but there will still be a cost.  Rocky Mountain National Park (the land surrounding Estes Park) is the most strict.  You can read their wedding info here: http://www.nps.gov/romo/planyourvisit/weddings.htm.   When you reach out, have a general idea of where you would like to be married.  We can suggest places in the area!  Another way to go is to use a hotel's ceremony site.  Most mountain lodges have a place designated for weddings with a beautiful mountain vista.  Using their private location means there is no need for any type of permitting and if you are having a small ceremony on a weekday (especially in winter) you are likely to get as much as %85 off their typical cost.  This brings us to the next consideration.

Timing.  When should you have your elopement ceremony?  This is of course subject to your personal plans, but having little to no guests means that you will likely have more freedom to move your date around.  This gives you a lot of power to mitigate cost as any professional connected to the wedding world will offer discounts on their services during weekdays and during winter.  If you can make both happen you're in great shape!

Adventure Level: Maximum!  Or beginner?  Both are great, and both allow you to have a beautiful elopement ceremony.  The Colorado Wedding Productions team consists of avid sky divers, rock climbers, and backpackers.  We will follow you and marry you on any level of adventure you like.  But most elopements are not so involved or intense.  Know where your comfort level lies and don't push it...too much ;)  There are lots of beautiful hikes to remote mountain lakes, mountain summits, and hot springs in the area that you may be comfortable with in the summer but not so comfortable with in the winter.  There are also many road side vistas and great locations requiring only a mile or two of novice-intermediate hiking.  If you decide on a winter adventure, make sure you have the right gear to make the trip.

If you have any questions, we're here to help.  Happy Eloping!
